The holiday season is prime time for relationship break-ups.

Happy holidays, might not be a happy party time for all of us. In fact, most couples dread this time of the year! Expectations are high for the holidays which may lead to relationship disappointment.

For most of us, holidays are a time of sharing excessive amounts of food, followed by copious amounts of alcohol. But party life comes at a huge cost to couples who are prone to snoring.

Snoring is a test of any good relationship.

Alcohol, cigarettes, and excessive weight are listed as one of the main causes of snoring. Alcohol relaxes the soft tissue at the back of the throat and this soft tissue and tongue drop back and partially block the airway. The air passing by this soft tissue causes the sound we know as snoring.

Obstructive sleep apnea often confused with snoring is a more dangerous sleep disorder. Sleep apnea sufferers wake up several, if not hundreds of times a night to gasp for air. The body is reliant on the brain registering that there is a high carbon dioxide build-up in the blood and in turn forces the body to breathe. Alcohol slows down most body responses including signals from the brain that the body is in trouble.

Couples often complain that their partners’ snoring is tolerable during the year but unbearable during holidays. Romanticism flies out of the bedroom where snoring partners often find themselves on the couch or alone in bed. Holiday expectations are dampened leaving this time of the year most prone to relationship break-ups.

Not all is doom and gloom with plenty of snoring solutions available. It is maybe a good investment to add one of these solutions to the party pack. Who knows, it might be the answer to your relationship happy holiday survival.
